Reflection
This quarter in individuals and society we continued our topic about the industrial revolution, but now we had to do a project about it. The project was similar to what the grade 10 students do, which is their personal project. It contained 10 steps, and 3 journals, and never before have we done such a big and complexed project before. It was overall a new experience for me, and I think the entire class. Even for the teacher it was a new experience since she hadn't done it before. This project happened due to the curriculum change, giving us the ability to do it. When I was doing my project I most of the time found it quite challenging since most of the objectives were unfamiliar to me, like the ten steps we had to do. Though it was difficult at some points, I was still able to overcome these problems since I was able to adapt to the current situation I was. For example I got used to doing the steps, and understanding their overall concept.
The thing that I have chosen for my final product of this quarter, was to create a movie about my overall topic. My chosen topic was to find out what the significance of coal was to the inventions of the industrial revolution, and how that shaped the society we live in today. I faced several challenges during the process of making this film. Like finding the place where I could shoot scenes for my movie, and overall not really knowing what content I should place in the movie. I overcame both of these challenges, when I was able to discuss about my project with the teacher. She gave very useful advice for the content of the movie, and also helped developing the topic of the movie. After the discussion ended, I finally had a clear vision on what I should do. I was finally able to figure out the places where I should shoot my movie, and finally figured out what the content should be of the movie. When I was done presenting the movie, I felt very relieved, happy, and a bit proud of my self. The audience themselves also looked very happy, and the teacher too seemingly looked very happy, and proud of my movie. I just hope that I wouldn't forget the fun I had in making the movie, and the struggles I faced when overcoming the challenges.
Global Context
The global context that I have chosen for this quarter is Orientation is Space and Time. I have chosen this global context because we learned about the industrial revolution. We learned on how people changed in the entire way and style of living, and about our own lives. Like how we resulted in the society we live in today. We also learned where it has happened, namely the UK/ England, and that it happened in the 18th Century. We also learned that the discoveries that were made at the time like coal, and its overall discoveries for its uses. Helped the Industrial revolution to develop and change the lives our great great great great great grandparents have lived in. It is Orientations in Space and Time because the Industrial revolutions discoveries and inventions helped shape the society we live in today.
