Reflection
In this quarter for English we read a book called "Banner In The Sky." We based all our projects, and works of the quarter on that book. Reading the book wasn't really that difficult for me at the time, since most of the vocabulary, and grammar was familiar to me. The only problem I faced during this quarter was that I found it sometimes difficult to find the certain topic, and moral of the books chapter. Making it slightly more difficult for me to finish the chapter questions, projects, and literature circles. Since they were based on the chapters, which explained about the moral and topic of the chapter. Also this resulted in me doing terrible on my english test, which was based on a movie about climbing mount Everest, and the decision making the climbers make. I made a lot of mistakes mainly because I didn't understand what it was actually about, resulting in me answering the questions in poor quality. Also the other reason was that it was a surprise test, so I wasn't really prepared for it. The teacher himself said that he hoped for me to do better next time, since it was just bad. I hope that next time, whenever I face such a test again. I would be more prepared for the situation, by always testing myself at home, and preparing for anytime of situation. Also I hope I could improve the test result if I would read the questions more carefully next time, and watch the movie more carefully and pay better attention. With this I would be able to understand the concept more, and have the ability to answer the questions better.
Global Context
For the global context of this subject I have chosen "Orientation in Space and Time." This is because in the book we learned mainly about the struggles a mountain climber faced when he wanted to conquer the summit of the mountain. We learned about how the climber made his decisions, and how those decision resulted in the destination he would land on. For example he decided to help another climber, rather then going to the summit. Results in him saving the climber, but at the same time he fails to reach the summit. I have overall chosen this global because it was most related with the book. Which was actually all about decision making, and the consequences we faced from the decision we make. However the author decided rather to base the story on ordinary lives, he based it on mountain climbers. Where in their decisions are responsible for their survival.
