Civics
Yearly Goal: To improve the understanding how the Indonesian political system works, and how it is implemented on its people.
Quarter 2
In civics class this quarter we started learning about the topic of citizenship. We learned what it means by the term citizenship, and other terminology used to identify if one is part of a state, or stateless. We were assigned to research about the topic, and how different citizenships to countries could affect a person. As different facilities could be provided in different countries, which could make life easier or more difficult in certain areas of the world. We also research what the benefits were of having a citizenship in a certain country, particularly in Indonesia, and what its disadvantages are for not having one.

Citizenship Essay
My chosen work for this quarter is the essay I had made about citizenship in Indonesia. In this essay, I discussed and justified through analyzing my research what citizenship in Indonesia is like, and what the disadvantages could be if one looses that citizenship. In this essay particular we also had to relate it to a certain person with citizenship to Indonesia, or another country, and discuss how they feel of having that citizenship. I chose this assignment, and found it my best sample of work this quarter. As I enjoyed writing the citizenship essay during the quarter, and enjoyed knowing more about my Dad's citizenship how he got it, as I chose him for the person to discuss about in my essay. I also chose this assignment as my best sample of work. As it is important to know and discuss ones citizenship in the future, as it would define the country one lives in, and in directly tell the basics of your life. As citizenship could indicate where you work, and why you have prefer to live in that country more then another country, due to the facilities it could provides. This essay is therefore important, as it deepened my knowledge about this topic, and therefore is also my best sample of work, as I was able to with the research I collected write a good and justified essay about citizenship.
The criteria used to grade the essay, was Criteria A, and D, which are based on our knowledge, understanding, and reflecting of the topic. This in the essay was necessary to see the quality of research we had conducted throughout the quarter, and how well we understood the topic, as well were able to reflect a persons choice to apply for a certain citizenship. I overall think I was able to conduct the assignment very well. As I already knew before hand what citizenship was about, and what it overall meant by the term of belonging to a state. I also knew from my Dad the benefits of being an Indonesian citizenship, with the help of websites to see the facilities Indonesia provides to its citizens. The ability to understand the topic very well, helped me to conduct and do the assignment without difficulty, giving me a clear idea how to write the essay, and how to structure it. I just sometimes had difficulty finding the proper sources for the topic of Indonesian Citizenship, as the government doesn't provide enough websites to clarify its own laws. Making it sometimes difficult for me to find the necessary resources. I do next time could prevent this from happening, by just using Indonesian terms to find the necessary information. As Indonesian is the main language used in this country, and by searching using Indonesian words, I might have the ability to find more legitimate sources about the topic, besides blog entries, or sources from other countries citizenship. I would simply achieve this by just using Indonesian terms next time to find Indonesian issues. This wouldn't be that difficult to accomplish, as I already know the basics of the Indonesian language, through my Indonesian classes.
The key concept for civics this quarter was Systems. By learning more about citizenship, and how a country works and recognizes its population. We learned what systems take place for one to apply for a citizenship in a country, and what systems like in the law are there to enforce citizenship laws. We developed this primarily through our research we conducted this quarter, when researching and understanding the topic. Where we accessed websites by the government, or legitimate sources, to see what systems in law, and politics take place for citizenship, and how its important for a country. This was done before we were able to start writing our essay about citizenship in Indonesia.
